Beautiful horses reflect the golden sunlight of the evening, after last drink of the night at the water spring. They are headed for the canyons of Salt Wells, Wyoming to bed down for the night with their foals. As they walked up the side of the mountain, this palomino mare turned to look at me as I photographed her in this very personal moment that I was privileged to witness.
This painting won the Award of Merit at the 2023 Spirit of the West Art Show. It is painted with several layers of color, using high quality oil paints on a gallery wrap canvas, painted on the sides.
